The Prabon Greenfields development is the first housing construction project in Ghana to be designed as an integrated, environmentally friendly community, and was expected to set new standards for housing development efforts in Ghana. The project was commissioned by a joint venture between the Ashanti and Vital Capital called Golden Kingdom Vital to address Ghana’s housing needs. With the blessing and support of His Majesty King Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Ashanti, Conti broke ground in Kumasi in 2010 on this $42M development project.

Conti Federal performed the infrastructure work for the project. This included earthwork, paving, landscaping, and electrical installations, as well as construction of storm drainage, water, sewer, retaining walls, and ornamental fencing throughout the 70-acre site.

Interaction with the local and federal Ghanaian community played a huge role on this highly publicized project. Conti Federal’s project management team worked closely with the government of Ghana and other local stakeholders to address issues when they arose and to facilitate smooth project operations. Conti Federal also worked with a large number of local Ghanaian labor, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the project, building on the team’s relationships and reputation in the region.

Prabon Greenfields will provide over 500 homes and community support to residents, such as day care, schools, and health services.

Key features of the project included:

  • Housing infrastructure construction
  • Earth works
  • Cast-in-place and precast concrete
  • Asphalt paving
  • Utilities installations
  • Excavations
