Conti Federal Awarded $26.5M Contract to Construct Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery (RADR) Storage Facilities at Aviano Air Base in Italy

RADR Storage Facilities to Support Airfield Readiness Capabilities

Conti Federal Services, a leading U.S. government construction and engineering firm specializing in military and secure construction, has been awarded a $26,539,813 contract for the construction of Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery (RADR) storage facilities at Aviano Air Base in Aviano, Italy.

Awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, this project will consist of RADR facilities for a Medium RADR kit to enhance airfield readiness at Aviano Air Base. RADR kits allow troops to quickly deploy and repair runways to mitigate extensive airfield closures that will impact U.S. forces.

The project construction will include warehouse storage for vehicles and equipment with industrial ventilation, freeze protection, a unisex bathroom, and an exterior international standardization organization container storage pad. This facility will comply with the Department of Defense antiterrorism/force protection requirements.

“This partnership with NAVFAC positions Conti Federal as the contractor of choice for mission-critical projects in Europe,” said Michael Prudente, Conti Federal’s Vice President of Business Development for Europe and the Middle East. “As we expand our global reach, we remain committed to forging strong relationships with partners and subcontractors who share our values of safety, integrity, and a commitment to getting the job done once, done right.”

Work is expected to be completed by July 2025.

Currently, the firm is working on two concurrent projects in Southern Italy to include the modernization of crucial facilities at the Naval Support Activity in Naples, Italy, as well as the renovation of the Joint Intelligence Center, Building 639, at Naval Air Station II Sigonella in Sicily, Italy.
