The Small Business Administration (SBA) has expanded its size standard of environmental remediation firms to 750 employees, allowing Conti to contribute its services to the US government’s small business goals.
In recent years, the federal government and the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have increased their efforts to aid and promote small businesses across the country. This year, the government’s goal is to contract 37% of work to US small businesses in 2016. USACE is contributing to that mark by setting its own small business contracting goal at around 40%.
Conti has delivered environmental remediation projects since 1980, including mine reclamation, radiological munitions and fuels cleanup activities. Much of that work was provided while Conti was outside of the revised small business standard. Now, projects similar to the firm’s recent remediation of the Jack Waite Mine Superfund Site in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho will go toward helping the US government achieve its goals as Conti subcontracts to other local small businesses on its environmental projects.
